We rarely bring up post-traumatic growth, but it is absolutely a real thing. So many of us are brave enough to do the work, to get well, to stay out of toxic relationships, but how many of us truly acknowledge, or even glorify the beauty, the strength in post-traumatic growth.

The proof of post-traumatic growth is in the new careers, the new relationships, brave conversations with our loved ones, and the radical acceptance of who we are with our scars in tact, and without shame or the need to awkwardly blurt out things that might damage us later. The new skills, the dark nights of the soul, and yes I do mean multiple.

Growth can be painful, and it can also be useful, wonderful, and rewarding. Post-traumatic growth is what led me to write three books, and become a Certified Trauma Recovery Coach. With the fire that I took from my experiences, I channeled that into positive creativity, and only in the healing do we rediscover our energy and our power. It comes back slowly, but soon we realize we’re creative again, we’re creating again, and soon we will be thriving again.

Unmasking trauma is really not about placing blame on our parents, our former relationship parters, or anyone else. It’s about accountability and agency. Its the realization that had we not chosen that person to hurt us, we would’ve simply chosen another character to fill the role. We needed to be slapped in the face with reality in order to heal. Even that sucks, becuase then we question why we did that, and then the unraveling begins.

It is often said that things must fall apart before they come together again, in a new way. Heailng is like that. We don’t revert to the previous unhurt version of ourself, but a new version that contains and honors the hurt, and prevents us from choosing it ever again. There is power in that.

If you’re ready to start healing from your trauma and your past, I’d be honored to be part of your journey. I specialize in women’s empowerment, self-discovery, and finding authenticit joy after trauma. I offer online courses, have written several books, and also offer one-on-one trauma coaching for those ready to embark on their healing journey.
